This is me!!!!

Just wanted to give you an idea of who I am.
Well, this is pretty much me...
Much of my time is spent in my "blues", or like in this picture, in a wetsuit; either practicing or on call.

Friday before Christmas!

Last day at work before Christmas holidays! Yeah! Although having had alot of vacation this year - it is never enough! Grocery shopping with The Man today and making Christmas goodies during the weekend. Just the basics: Ham/Skinka, Janssons Frestelse/Jansson's deligt, Lussekatter - a week too late, but I love them so I've got to make them! And a few other yummies to go with a nice table on Christmas. And The Man will make the yearly candy/"kola" goes without saying. This year I would love to have a small tree inside, but just the tiniest one as the roof is so close to the floor... :-)

So I am wishing a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008! to those of you who (accidentally?) happen to stop by this blog. Have a restful and enjoyable holiday!

Thailand and back!

Just home from two weeks in beautiful Thailand. Had a great time and we are now relaxed enough to "get on with it". :-) The weather was sunny and hot with scattered thunderstorms - the normal Thai weather. For those who understand Celsius we had about +40-45 degrees C in the sun during the day and +30 degrees C in the WATER! Couldn't be better! Came back to Sweden last night and had -3 C. Imagine the shock! At least it was beautiful - frost everywhere and on everything.

Jetlagged...

On call one week a month

Being a fire fighter on call every fourth week doesn't seem to be that hard, does it now? Especially when you live in a smaller community with about 250 calls every year. Some weeks go without any calls - some weeks you have your share of work cut out for you - maybe a call every day or even several calls during the course of one day. That excluding the full time work you have "on the side". Or rather - you have the part time ff duties on the side. Can be quite tiresome at times. Especially if your "beeper" goes off at 3 o'clock at night and you don't get home till early dawn, just to have a nice shower real quick and then off to your "normal" duties...

What makes you want to continue with this? Some (most men..) say it is for the comeradeship, male bonding, getting together in the sauna - "talking the talk" and of course to help your fellow man/woman. Well, how about women/girls? What is in it for them? Mostly the same things - IF you are allowed to participate. Being a part time ff/woman today is mostly ok, at least if you are working in smaller communities. The full time ff organizations can still be very MALE domineering and some seem to want to keep it that way.. It is their loss.. I am thinking/hoping it is getting better day by day!

Computer freak - is me...

My first day of blogging! Might be the first AND last... I am not sure how persistent I can be.. Time will tell I am sure!
